Latisys Announces Two Data Center Establishments in Virginia and Chicago

Latisys, a managed hosting provider has announced two more data center establishments in North Virginia and Chicago. Latisys is adding 10,000 sq ft in OakBrook III, and 22,000 sq ft in Ashburn, Chicago.

Latisys has confirmed that this expansion is to meet the growing demands for Infrastructure as a Service platform. A report by Gartner says that the Infrastructure as a Service platform is likely to grow by 47.8% by 2015. Officials from Latisys have also said that the facility in Virginia has started operations and is available to the customers while the one in Chicago will be available by early 2013.

Latisys already has two other data centers, 87,000 sq ft facility in Denver which has doubled the footprint in Colorado, and the second one a 13,000 sq ft facility in California with 1.8 megawatt of critical power.

The expansion was partially driven by regional demand for IaaS, but the company views this platform as a national expansion plan. Latisys is an end to end IT outsourcing platform, providing colocation, managed hosting, and cloud computing services. Managed hosting includes network management, managed server hosting, server virtualization, storage, backup, replication and security services.

Ashburn is the east coast hub for Latisys, while Chicago is its Midwest hub. Denver acts frequently as a disaster recovery site, while Irvine, CA is the west coast hub. Combined, it makes Latisys ideal for production workloads, and a cloud play for the enterprise, with multiple regions available.
