LEED Gold for QTS in Atlanta

QTS, a custom Data Center and colocation provider has received a LEED Gold certification for its Atlanta Data Center. QTS is the third largest provider of colocation services in the United States.

LEED Certification is given based on credit categories such as Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, and Indoor Environmental Quality; mandatory for all projects.

The QTS Data Center located in the Atlanta metropolitan area of 990,000 sqft was bought in 2007. Measures to increase energy efficiency taken after the building of this mega Data Center have definitely paid off! The ‘green’ measures taken by the company include rainwater harvesting used to supplement the requirement of water for the Data Center’s cooling system; the company reduced its PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) by 11.4% by just this!
