Pacnet joins with Tianjin Wuqing Government on New Data Centers

         Pacnet announced its partnership with the Tianjin Wuqing Government to develop a data center in Tianjin business district in Tianjin, China. Officials from Tianjin Economic and IT commission were present at the signing ceremony. Pacnet and the Tianjin Wuqing government have plans to build and run a data center in the Wuqing business district which will be capable of hosting 2, 000 racks and making it as one of the Pacnet’s largest data centers.  This new facility in Wuqing serves customers from both China and other locations. The estimated cost to construct this new facility is about $72 Million and expected to be ready in early 2014.

         Chief Executive Officer of Pacnet Carl Grivner said, “We are excited to work with the Tianjin Wuqing government to support their latest initiative to develop the Tianjin Wuqing Business District into a leading IT hub in North China. We believe our strong international presence coupled with our local China expertise, will enable us to support Tianjin’s development into a key technology hub in North China.”

         Secretary of Wuqing District Committee Zhang Yong said, “We are delighted to partner with Pacnet to deliver advanced data center capabilities in the Tianjin Wuqing Business District to meet the increasing demand for these services by the growing number of enterprises that are setting up here,”

         Director of Cloud Research Center, MIIT Xie Zhigang said, “With the international expertise from Pacnet, the new data center will be constructed and operated to meet international standards for sustainability and efficiency. This will support the latest efforts by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to promote the development of green data centers in China,”

Cequel Data Center acquired Adhost Internet Advertising

Cequel is a Management and investment firm established in early 2002. Cequel has worked with many enterprises like Suddenlink Communication, Excell Communications and Cequel Data Centers. Cequel is currently maintaining 110, 000 sq ft of data center space in Dallas, Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Spokane. Adhost is one the internet advertising company which offers services like ecommerce, co-location and web site hosting solutions since 1995, based in Seattle, Washington. Adhost offers these solutions mainly to small and medium-sized businesses in US. Some of the other services offered by Adhost are administrative service, backup and recovery solutions, other than these Adhost also offers services like Small business servers, manages security services, software licensing services, remote secure logging, database backup, intrusion detection system, bandwidth monitoring system and labeling equipment.

Cequel Data Centers have announced that it has acquired Adhost Internet Advertising Company based in Seattle, Washington. Adhost will be rebranded as TierPoint. This acquisition will add extra 30, 000 sq ft of data center space in Spokane, Washington. Cequel currently maintains massive data centers in Spokane, Tulsa, Dallas and Oklahoma City.

IBM To Open Advanced Analytics Center in Ohio

               IBM has one of the world’s deepest portfolios of Analytic solutions. IBM currently include 9, 000 business consultants and 400 researchers. IBM has secured many patents in analytics and has acquired more than 30 companies since 2005 to build targeted analytics. IBM has announced it will build a new analytics center in Columbus, Ohio. IBM Client Center for Advanced Analytics is aimed to create 500 new jobs. Fujitsu to Build New Data Center in Canada

                Fujitsu is a Japanese multi-national IT company, head quartered in Tokyo Japan. Altoona to Get $12M Data Center

Enseva a Waterloo, Iowa Canada based data colocation firm has confirmed to build a new data center in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Enseva has purchased 13.6 acre of land in August. Enseva is planning to invest $12 Million at Altoona. This Data center is very near to Iowa Health System Technology Infrastructure, a primary client of Enseva. Enseva launched its first data center in Hiawatha on October 1, 2012, first phase of Altoona plant will be a replica of Hiawatha plant. Enseva plans for multiple 17, 000 sq ft data center buildings. Altoona plant is capable of accommodating 96, 000 sq ft of data center space; plant is likely to create 30-40 jobs.

Chad Quick Altoona city planner said, “It’s a great deal for the city, absolutely. We need to move toward the realm of being more of an employer city … anything that adds to the tax base and with jobs provided, especially in the tech industry, is a good thing.”

President of Enseva Doug Sevey said, “We were there first before the big guys decided they were going to go in across the street, we had already figured out the location and opportunities in that area. Those opportunities have already drawn one multimillion-dollar data center, Light-Edge, to Altoona. The priority for data centers is easy access to excessive electrical power, fiber-optic cables, and open and affordable land. Altoona offers all these with access to the intersection of Interstate Highways 80 and 35.”
