Equinix Begins Phase Two of their Data Center Ahead of its Scheduled Time

Equinix Inc, a provider of data center services announced today that the construction of phase two of its third Sydney international business exchange data center has begun six months ahead of the schedule.

Equinix is investing an additional US$ 50 million into the expansion. This has already reflected o the company’s 2012 guidance. “Interconnections within our sites have accelerated, showing that our customers are leveraging Platform Equinix to accelerate the growth of their business.”

equinixThe first phase has seen rapid uptake as the result of Australia’s growing cloud industry. This is the main reason behind the construction of phase two SY3 as the data center is called. Brennan IT is rolling out its cloud services platform to small and medium sized enterprise customers, leveraging SY3’s core infrastructure, along with the plethora of connectivity options available from 65 telecommunication networks.
