Web Giant Google Praises Ireland’s Chilly Weather

            Web giants Google sings

praises of Ireland’s cold, chilly weather – it’s perfect for its data centers. The weather in Ireland is usually cold, blustery and rainy that makes people to leave the place. Ireland’s challenging weather is exactly what makes it so attractive and it is added with remarkably low corporation tax. Ireland’s climate is the main attraction as the cold weather helps to keep down the heat generated by the servers; this intern reduces the running cost of enormous data centers.

Google recently built a $75 million data center in the Irish capital, Dublin. The cool weather helps data centers more efficient as less power is required to cool the servers; it also helps to enhance center’s green credentials. Google’s global data center operations officer Dan Costello said, it’s not often that Irish weather is a cause for praise, but the temperate climate was very significant in choosing Ireland as a location for this data center.”

According to Google its data center uses 50% less energy than typical data centers by including smart temperature control, latest power distribution methods and other technologies. Building data centers in locations like this enhances efficient operations and facilities can use outside air and water to keep the servers at optimum temperature.

Not only Google other data center companies have chosen Ireland as one of its locations for data centers. Microsoft has invested $600 million and Telecity a UK firm has spent $131 million in such facilities. Telecity’s Managing Director Maurice Mortell told the Guardian, “The growth of the digital economy is creating significant demand for IT infrastructure environments. The cooling element of these IT facilities is one of the reasons why Ireland is a popular choice for data centers.” Ireland’s 12.5 % interest rates have encouraged many IT and online related businesses to make this country as regional headquarters.
