there is an intermnet datacenter in us made under a big child play center and is neighbour to a river as well !
why they have decided to place such datacenter in that awfull condition ?
Yes, there can different answers of different people, it is really spinning my mind to find out a logic behind this. Can you tell what is the true answer?
The climate there may be cooler or so That may be cutting down the power and cooling costs. Just an assumption, actual reason would be known from the people who set it up there.
I am guessing the issue is with 2 of the following:
1) The property was probably within their price range
2) The owner probably did not have the knowledge to understand the ramifications of being near a river.
My questions to you are how close is it to the river, is it on the ground level or above a flood level? Is the area known as a location that has high potential for flooding?
What kind of climate is this location? You will typically see a cooler breeze next to a river along with a maintainable humidity level. This in it's self could cause a drop in cooling/humidification demand in the server room.
Personally, I would stay away from a flood plain. However, based on the location, the elevation away from the river, and the potential for flooding, it may have a risk vs. benefit that leans more towards beneficial.
