I'd like to build a NOC inside a datacenter; one problem, is that I can't exchange air from the NOC location to outside the datacenter. Is it OSHA-approved to have a NOC within a datacenter, so that it exchanges air with the datacenter space? What about if the datacenter has a FM200 or Halon system?
I can imagine that OSHA might say that a working environment (NOC) may not exchange air with a Halon-equipped datacenter. Not sure about FM200.
If the datacenter itself is within OSHA standards, why do you think there would be any problem with "sharing air?" People are allowed to work in both environments, correct?
There should be no problem with this. Fundamentally, a NOC is just like having an office within the same space. I've been in many DCs that have the NOC as part of the same base structure and there didn't appear that there was a separate AC for each section.
Don't know about OSHA regs but I would think it's a non issue.
