frequency of sustained power interruption?
I have a cost-concious customer who needs lots of power, but not much redundancy. I'm considering some cheaper power options for him: possibly UPS with fewer battery cabinets; maybe even flywheels with no gen-set backup. However, I'm unsure how to set expectations for the outages that will result.
My utility company publishes its expected frequency of "sustained" interruptions (over 2 seconds in duration) via the SAIDI benchmark. But I wonder how often to expect interruptions over 10 seconds in duration; or over 6 minutes; or over 10 minutes.
Has anyone seen a distribution curve of interruption duration, in seconds, for their utility?
