In fact, you receive 1 month for free. It goes like the following. Let's assume your server costs 50 EUR per month:

- 16th July: you pay 50 EUR for the first month of server rental (August). Your server goes online the same day.

- 1st August: you pay 24.19 EUR for July (17th July - 31th July). You already paid for August.

- 1st September: you pay nothing for September.

- 1st October, November, December etc: you pay 50 EUR for the server rental per month (always the current month).
