We are thinking of moving our facilities into a new colo. Till now, we have always sourced our own Internet in our own facilities. when i inquired about the cost, colo providers said that they supply 5mb/s of bandwidth for $500 per month. i think it's a little too expensive. is it really that high? is everyone paying that kinda money to internet or am i just being taken for a ride?
$500 is a little too expensive. check with other bandwidth providers in teh area. you can get good speed bandwidth connection well within $100. it will not cost you so much even if you live in a small city.
That is far too much, but it depends where it is delivered. In general at a normal western colo facility, a good quality Mbps bandwidth will cost something like 3 or 4 euo's a Mbps. Thats also the reason why almost every normal colo facility will give some free Mbps for free with a rack.
