Default Burn-In of Data Center Servers

We currently require 99% of our servers to go through a 48 hour burn-in test where the device is powered and left on for 48 hours before being provisioned into the data center. The electricians also perform a fail-over test for devices that are dual corded.

Some of us feel that this may be overkill for this environment. Is anyone else performing a test similar to this for your servers? Is any type of "Burn-In" being performed and if so of what duration?

Also what failure rate have you experienced while burning devices in?
Thanks in advance.
