our data centers have grown exponentially in the last 2 years, and we are having trouble managing the servers, routers, patches, etc. Currently we're using Vista Aperture: it's feature rich, but wildly complicated for our needs. We only have about 1000 servers globally, and Vista is for a much bigger organization.
We need a product that graphically displays floor space of the data centers, and racks, where I can manually load up servers and their power usage, patches to the switch, OS patch management, etc. Or maybe add user-defined fields, then write some reports from them.
Anybody know of anything less complicated than Aperture but not a simple PC asset mgt system?
cheers

Check out the Enterprise suite of software from The Advantage Group (www.taglim.com). They have products to manage your critical infrastructure including UPSs, servers, PDUs, IP cameras and more, all the way down to the application level.
You can view the layout of your physical data center down to the rack level.
It's a lot less expensive and easier to use than many of the other packages on the market.
