I have been investigating on this for long time. I had few servers in datacenter one of the server crash more often. If I want to look for Hard Drive for server. What brand name is recommended?.
It really depends on what your using it for, I would use a SCSI if there is a lot of searches/transfer on the drive for example if your a large number database over an EIDE. AS for the physical failure that can happen to any hard drive. I believe though that IBM hard drive come with a 3 year warranty, just to know had one IBM hard drive and it crashed.
I would also recommend going for SCSI too. Thats the best option but it doesnt come cheap.
I've had quite a number of experience dealing with harddisk, Western Digital and Seagate are the way for me.
Provided I have the extra cash I'll probably go for ;
1. SCSI
2. EIDE
3. IDE
You could go for the WD Raptors SCSI harddisk(10000 RPM) for your main harddisk or where all the accounts are then probably have an IDE drive as your backup.
