I have seen many routers in internet and only cisco routers are very popular compare to Nortel or any other swithces. Is any popular Nortel switches out there. Is it very hard to compete with cisco?. What made them to bring No1 in routing technologies.

Juniper Networks makes routers also and they have a decent size market share. I haven't really heard of popular Nortel switches we use a Cisco switches and what made them No 1 is that there very reliable

One thing, I have heard that sasser worm can hang about in the mem of a cisco, so if you have 2000 servers make sure there patched.

Cisco is just one of the biggest companies. They also have alot of highly respected certifications such as CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE and more... This means datacenters (and ISP's) can actually hire "Cisco Experts" who spe############ed themselves in Cisco when studying networking.

Hi Pixelation,

They are only pupular in some of the routers which is in use. There are many routing swithces going to be pupular with new routing algorithms. Cisco is good for low end connections.
