Default Logical datacentre models

It seems apparent that our data centre has been put together on an adhoc basis (as per standard) as a new service arrives, a server or two is placed in it.

Can anybody quickly point or provide some education on the different models that a data centre can adopt? I'm thinking of transactional model or a relationship model for instance. I suspect that large savings can be made by adopting a consistent model across the whole data centre.

Regards,
Kuross

Very cool link, TechDeck. I also liked the Sim Datacenter blog ... always looking for more industry blogs for my RSS reading. Thanks!
