Default Cobalt Raq4 root passwd recovery

Any have any ideas on how to recover the root passwd on a cobalt Raq4.

/var is full so i need to clear down some logs.

I have the admin passwd but the person who looks after the server is on holiday and seems to have kept the root passwd to himself.

Which OS is running on that server? I never worked with Cobalt But I know Linux... Also, do you have physical access to the server?

Its a linux kernel, the reset button on the system itself is supposed to reset both the admin and the root passwd, but it only resets the admin passwd.

From what i've read the only suggestion seems to be reinstalling the os using the recovery cd.
