Defense Information System Agency
Value of contract: $4 billion

Summary: The Defense Information System Network Transmission Services-Pacific contract provides the federal government with circuits in the Asia-Pacific region, South America, the Middle East and the Caribbean.


Value: $600 million

Summary: MCI is one of three vendors with a 10-year contract to extend Defense Information System Network circuits in the continental U.S.


Value: $400 million

Summary: MCI supports the Department of Defense's command-and-control network, the Defense Information System Network. MCI provides switches to route voice traffic, bandwidth managers to direct data communications, ATM switches, network management and security.


U.S. Postal Service

Value: $3 billion

Summary: The Postal Service uses MCI as its managed network services provider for up to 34,000 locations.


Federal Aviation Administration

Value: $1.6 billion

Summary: MCI provides communications services to the nation's air-traffic control system. The Leased Interfacility NAS Communication System uses more than 20,000 circuits to ensure nonstop service at over 5,000 FAA and U.S. military locations.


Value: $250 million

Summary: In 1996, the FAA chose MCI to provide satellite services under the FAA Telecommunications Satellite contract, which delivers voice and data communications to 106 FAA air-traffic control facilities.


General Services Administration

Value: $750 million +

Summary: In 1999, MCI won the second of two awards for the GSA’s Federal Technology Service 2001 program, which provides long-distance networking services for federal agencies.


Department of Defense

Value: $450 million

Summary: MCI is the WAN provider for the Defense Research and Engineering Network, the Pentagon's network supporting more than 6,000 scientists and engineers at supercomputer labs, test centers and universities across the U.S.


U.S. House of Representatives

Value: $11 million

Summary: MCI supplies the House with its wide-area frame-relay service.
