The problem I see is still with power interuption and internet downtime.
If you are using a notebook then you can still make VoIP calls for a few more hours but if your internet is down or getting slow then there is no option left.
The main advantage is still the cost over regular phones. I'm saving about $20 monthly using my Onesuite account over when I use a mobile phone or landline for overseas calls.
When you need to call individuals in far distances land phone is the alternative to use when there is poor internet connection or VOIP service failure.
One disadvantage of VoIP is that its quality depends solely on the speed of the internet connection. If your connection is sluggish so is your voice quality.
VOIP has some disadvantages compared to the regular telephone
VOIP has many disadvantages.
It is heavily dependent on the internet and VOIP software applications.
Viruses are a threat to all software, more to those applications running online. So VOIP is under the threat of viruses.
Also, VOIP has disadvantages with providing the level of quality of service that customers are accustomed to with regular telephone technology. VOIP requires a large amount of data to be compressed and transmitted, then uncompressed and delivered, all in a relatively small amount of time. Problems occur in VOIP conversations when this process takes too long and the callers experience echo or over-talk.
If you are looking for simple voip solution then you have to trust me.
