I have got some servers setup by the data center, they have setup the IPMI of the servers.
Then I access the servers from IPMI and in the CentOS, I reboot the server, it shows shutdown eth0, eth1, then the IPMI will not work. The IP of the IPMI not pingable.
Why the reboot of the server will get the IPMI to die?
My network is
All IPMI use a second and separate switch with a separate up link. So the IPMI should be on dedicated port.
It there something odd that of the IPMI setup?
I have asked the data center support, still not get a response yet.
Upgrade your bios and firmware for ipmi and set the link to dedicated. What you can ask the DC to do is verify the gateway is there if not have them update it, have them unplug lan1 and lan2 (if connected) then connect to ipmi do your updates. reconnect lan1 and lan2.
You should be good to go from there... I have literally done about 45 of these. Each acted the same way till the updates were done.
