Purpose of Job:

Execute routine projects/initiatives as they relate to the implementation and day-to-day support of storage related infrastructure technology in a multi-platform environment.

Key Accountabilities / Activities:

Major Activities:

• Add server (Wintel/Unix ) to backup rotation
• Responsible for backup enviroment capacity planning in terms of perfromance and storage availability.
• Perform Tape management activity , routine maintenance and tape reclamation functions.
• Implement end-to-end backup performance monitoring and trending.
• Assist vendors in the upgrades and configuration of backup technology.
• Implementing backup architectures and procedures.
• Working with technical support teams to ensure that the operational environments are recoverable.
• Working with project teams to assist in the design and implementation the backup component of new applications.
• Work with Engineering team to implement best practices for backup management.
• Knowledge of SAN and backup technologies is an add value.

Requirements:
Extensive Work Experience:

• Experience in deployment and management of enterprise based storage technologies.
• knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, and resolving technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems.
• Knowledge of sotware technology and global, regional and local software architecture and infrastructure components.
• Working knowledge of the following technologies: Netbackup 6.x, SUN STK Tape hardware (9940B, T10K, LTOx). SUN ACSLS server, SUN v890/490/445 servers, EMC EDL’s, EMC DL3D’s. SUN STK Tape libraries SL8500, L700, L1400.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups or activities. Effective judgment in prioritizing and time allocation.




Job Complexities/Challenges:
• Implement security/audit standards and industry best practice. As defined by the Engineering team.
• Working with Project Manages to understand business requirements and implementing solutions that best fit the needs of the customer.
• Own problem resolution and work with Level one support to ensure closure and post mortem review.
• Work with vendor to resolve incident and ensure system stability and availability.
• Manage day to day health of storage environment.
