BladeLogic Inc.
announced today that it's shipping a new release of its BladeLogic Operations Manager data center automation software.
Version 6 allows data center managers to make provisioning, change and compliance actions based on the services a company needs while underlying devices are automatically managed in the background, BladeLogic officials said.
The new version includes support for SUSE Linux and VMware ESX and can support tens of thousands of servers across multiple data centers, according to BladeLogic CEO Dev Ittycheria.
Waltham, Mass.-based BladeLogic was founded in 2001.
FreshDirect Inc. plans to deploy the newest version next spring to manage changes and growth with its servers, which now number 75 and run on Windows and Linux, said Myles Trachtenberg, chief technology officer at the Long Island City, N.Y.-based online fresh-food manufacturing and delivery service. "We're enhancing applications all the time," he said. "It's a real challenge to make sure that what you have in one server is exactly what is in another place.
