Raised floor for cooling
Is raised floor really a necessity for cooling.. Will a flooded supply or overhead cooling not meet the requirements ?

Datacenters probably have some specific reason for raised. No doubt you could use overhead heating if you want to though. I would go round searching for some articles if I was you.

We have raised floor cooling and it only works well if you have racks that have extractor fans in the top and non mesh doors.
If all of your heat just gets blown out of the back of the rack, through a mesh rear door then there is no point in using raised floor cooling.

I thought it was for locked cabinets and the raised floors enable engineers to put fiber and power lines on the bottom without hanging them over the top.
