Default Datacenter hardware selection

Hi,

When we buy racks how do we difined that whether we need to use open racks or closed racks? What is the advantage of choosing closed racks? Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thanks

Racks with closed sides help with hot/cold air management, encourage good cabling practices and simplify individual rack replacement when necessary. Racks with closed (perforated) fronts and backs help you keep your equipment secure and evenly ventilated and help keep your facility from resembling an unmade bed.
