Default CPU recommendation

I was wondering what is the best CPU to host around 200-300 domains per server. I was thinking to go to intel. Do you have any recommendation or experience.

A celeron should work well, will you be running a large number of mysql sites if so I would go with a P4 or even a Xeon

200-300 domains per server, you shouldn't do that on a Celeron, really. A (Dual) Xeon (HyperThreading) would be good for this. Or maybe a Pentium 4 2.8GHz (or up) with "at least" 512MB of RAM. When you host customers, there will always be customers who have huge forums running a large number of SQL queries. You don't want such accounts to decrease performance of your other websites.

If your customers are running forums, you should really consider at least a P4 2.8 with 1 GB RAM or a Dual Xeon 2.8

Go for Intel; a real P4 (no celeron); less heat than AMD and better performace.
