For backing up servers, I *highly* recommend backuppc. http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/
Its a set-it-and-forget-it solution, open source, easily maintained, easy interface, I could go on and on.

Its all automatic, it logs into your server for you (ssh/rsync/samba) and gets what you have asked for. It pools, so space is saved on redundant files, and it compresses.

I love it

For a more enterprise solution, Tivoli is very, very nice. Check it out on IBM's website.

Backup tool choice depends entirely on your infrastucture & budget. I backup about 60 Windows servers using Netbackup - it's a great tool, but fairly expensive - great for Exchange & SQL backups too.

I have always found that creating my own command line script backups work better than any program. Reason for this is that you can ensure how, when, where, and why the backup is made as opposed to a program's defaults. For instance you can change permission upon backup, etc.

Hi Marchen,

Rsync is one of the best backup software tool. We use Rsync to take daily and weekly backup of all our servers. You can give a try you would really be delighted.

open source is a better and cheaper option..
How is the community feedback about the software?
