The Technical Analyst II represents an Intermediate level position. The Technical Analyst II is expected to understand the Unit’s business objectives and contribute to the Unit’s ability to achieve the customer service objective.

The Analyst II differs from the Spe############t primarily in the degree of independent action and judgement, depth of technical skills and in the awareness and use of business factors in carrying out assignments.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Follow documented operational procedures and processes with minimal guidance from the team.
2. Continually develop technical skills to facilitate advancement
3. Ability to apply knowledge and skills to identify impacts to the customer service objective.
4. Ability to determine the appropriate actions in response to impacts with guidance from the team.
5. Identify gaps and make recommendations for improvements and enhancements.


Performance Objectives:

1. Work with other team members, vendors and support to ensure that Data Center Operations incidents are addressed and resolved quickly in order to minimize service disruption. These activities interface with the organization’s problem and change management processes.


Skill Requirements:

Technical Skills

In - Depth Knowledge of at least one of the four UNIX Operating Systems: HP UX, SUN Solaris, AIX, DEC. Will also possess an in-depth knowledge of the following:

• System Security Admin.
• HA Configurations, setup & maintenance
• Backup/Recovery/ Omniback (Data Protector)
• TCP/IP
• Veritas Volume Manager/File Manager (SUN)
• LVM/JFS (HP)
• Performance tools – eg) BMC Best 1
• Systems Management Tools – eg) HP ITO, SAM
• Scripting (Korn, Bourne, Perl)
• External storage sub-systems – EMC/HDS/IBM/HP
• SMTP (sendmail/virus scan)
• Kernel Re-building
