Latest Routing Alogorithm?

I am just curious, what is the latest routing algorithm use in latest routes?. Is this MPLS or is any out there?. I haven't work with routing for while.

Yes, I beleive MPLS it doesn't look at header, it routed via the layer. Am I right guys?.
