I have noticed that most of the datacenter runs BGP for their peering. What is the advantage of using BGP?, Is any other protocol out their to do similar job or better job.

BGP finds the fastest route to your server/network for your customers and it gives you a combination of bandwidth carriers compared to using a single homed bandwidth provider. I'm not sure if there are anything better.

Any single homes BW providers use BGP ?, I am just curious.

BGP does not necessarily find the fastest route. It has no concept of speed, link state or line load. It does however determine the shortest route between ASNs. Providers announce their IP blocks to every transit provider and the transit provider gives them full internet routes (about 150-160k routes). Peering participants, however, only exchange their own IP block information.
