Default Shipping DDP into foreign Data Centers

I would like to get some more information on the issues faced by resellers, distributors and OEMs when shipping network equipment into foreign data centers?

Yes shipping equipments to other countries can be challenges due to various import laws enforced.

For Example "EC" certification is needed for any equipment to be shipped to UK/Europe. Similarly China is "CCC". Most countries don't want to have electronic waste enter to their lands hence enforced strict rules.

Thumbs up Reply: Shipping DDP into foreign Data Centers

Hi there,

Several US companies reported that their network equipments have been stuck in customs in some EU countries because they could not provide an EORI number.

An EORI number is a customs ID in the EU for importers and exporters. In most EU nations, it is enough to have this customs ID in order to be able to act as importer of record (IOR). However, some countries like Spain or Belgium require that a foreign company should be also registered for VAT purposes locally in order to import in the country.

To read more about applying for an EORI number in the EU, this page can be useful: https://www.corintax.com/get-an-eori-number.html

Kind regards -
