Default Cloud Node and Data Centre

One of the data center services provider has 4 data centers in US - two data centers in East coast provide colo services as well as have a cloud node. The other 2 data centers are in Mid-West and the provider recently announced adding a cloud node to one of the data centers (these two already provide colo services). By adding cloud node to one data center in Mid-West, will the provider be able to sell its cloud services to customers of other data center in Mid-West (where there is no cloud node)? How does adding a cloud node improves the ability of a provider to sell its services?
