Cloud computing is gaining popularity very fast.

The cloud can work faster and provide quick results as it do not need the users to be good on the type of resources used. In simple terms, the cloud computing has three different factors:
Software as service: In this type of services, the software and applications are available for the user or client on a monthly subscription service.
Utility computing: Here the capacity of the server is accessed and priced for the service.
Virtualization: In virtualization, the software is separated from physical infrastructure.
The main advantage of the cloud hosting is that it enables the management to share large amount of data on various demands. In this type of hosting, it controls and has very good security for the data and balances other resources virtually. This means that the users and clients do not have any restrictions of resources. Since there are many virtual attributes that makes the cloud hosting. This can be the ultimate and the best hosting method ever.

The cloud is undoubtedly the biggest trend since whenever - but it is also dependent entirely on the network, as common sense and a flotilla of analysts would agree.

So the question is not whether enterprises or vendors are ready for the cloud, but whether the network is ready for the cloud.

Cloud hosting, also called clustered hosting, is a web hosting service that is delivered from a network of connected servers. The servers are not necessarily in the same data center; in fact they are more likely located in data centers scattered around the globe.

Some of the benefits are as follows

Cost effective

With the opportunity to have more resources available, the end user is able to expand their business without incurring extra inventory or overhead. For the first time ever, IT is getting something that is cost effective, more reliable and better all round.

The Cloud hosting companies only bill their users on the quantity of computing power used. Think of it as similar to an electricity or water supply bill - you pay for what you use

Power Savings

Cloud hosting provides benefits to everyone in cost savings through consolidation, better security, better performance and flexibility. There is also the benefit of redundancy. Users are now able to reduce their hardware inventory which leads to less power requirements and, of course, benefits the environment.

Ease of Use

What once took several IT personnel to do, can now be accomplished by one person in a matter of minutes. Suppose, for instance, you need a server to host your applications. You will now be able to launch a server with your own root password where you can load your own code.

Cloud Hosting is very effective for small and medium size companies as well as startups.

Companies Like Microsoft are aggressively Promoting it.

The advantages of cloud hosting makes it a smart enterprise choice for any size business that needs innovative internet computing technology. Going Cloud is a reliable, resilient, and cost-effective choice that will allow a business to grow their business without interruptions. Choosing a cloud setup is definitely a smart business investment, making it well worth considering for any business looking to take advantage of the latest web hosting technology solutions.

So far I've seen Cloud Hosting mostly used as a marketing gimmick for VPS servers with most providers. And I haven't seen any provider really recommend it over dedicated server or other solutions such as load balanced servers etc. Although I've seen them advertise it is better in many ways, when it really comes down to it, cloud hosting is just a fancy virtual server and cannot match the dedicated resources available to a dedicated server.

When cloud hosting is done properly, it can provide customers with even more reliable services. It should also reduce costs for IT departments and hosting companies as well. Also when used correctly, it should be more energy efficient which is good for the environment.

Hi,
The servers are not necessarily in the same data center in fact they are more likely located in data centers scattered around the globe. Is a common misconception.
I really want you to tell me how do you run an infrastructure which runs the same software platform, OS.

Yes, you are correct that the servers are not often in the same data center. There is usually a cloud that is created by having servers in multiple locations, thus in multiple data centers.

I'd suggest that cloud computing changes the game and I think this is fueled by two key drivers: cost and time to market. Though there are some concerns about the security and maturity with cloud, it does offer planned growth based on OpEx. When it comes to business applications, a key difference from running them in the cloud in relation to a hosted service is that they run on multiple servers. Because of this, applications become location independent and processing power is virtually unlimited. Likewise, it helps reduce bandwidth costs and the personnel costs associated with maintaining a data center. Another big advantage with cloud is the ability to scale quickly, to adapt to changing needs.
