Default Monitoring Tool

We have been using Solarwinds EE toolset for network monitoring of our data center. This tool does not monitor servers & desktops utilization. Is there a tool that can do network monitoring as well as server monitoring (cpu, ram, disk etc). The tool should be agent less as we will not be allowed to install agent on servers / desktops. Any help / info on this would be much appreciated.

Thumbs up Monitoring

Hello,

I thinks you should give a try installing CACTI. It can be installed from yum and also from source.

You would need an agent to monitor those resources. Not sure how you would do that without the same. My suggestion would be Nagios

Hi emad, Thanks for the reponse.

Can you please share some more info on CACTI ? Is it agentless or agentbased tool? Please share the link for download and install instructions.

If the equipment is running SNMP you might get access to some operating system and applications counters/status/data without a monitoring agent but IMO it is intrusive procedure anyway.
