Default SAN drive backups in house?

Does anyone here backup on a SAN drive, or keep tape records of everything? We've been doing tape, but also backing up on a SAN drive, and trying to figure out if we can save some time and money and get rid of the tapes all together.

We have our drives mirrored, which constitutes a backup in a few different ways. Yes, it means we have double the hard drives for the same space, but we won't be down for more than a few minutes, even if a hard drive goes bad. Additionally, there are backups made daily, weekly, and monthly, in case individual data gets deleted or corrupted.
