Default The Planet Brings Enterprise-Level Database Solution to Small Business for Less

DALLAS, TX — The PlanetSM recently announced that it has begun offering the new Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Workgroup Edition to its small- to medium-sized business customers. The newly created database solution, a part of Microsoft’s expansion of the SQL Server line, provides smaller organizations with all of the power of the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition at a fraction of the cost.

According to Sam Fleitman, Vice President of Managed Services at The Planet, the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Workgroup Edition is the perfect choice for customers seeking rich database features in a low-cost, full-size, simple-to-manage database solution.

“This new offering is significant for our small- to mid-sized business customers,” said Mr. Fleitman. “With SQL Server 2000 Workgroup Edition, these smaller organizations can now enjoy the enterprise-level benefits of a superior database solution at an entry-level price without being locked into a long-term agreement.”

Built specifically for smaller departments in larger organizations or for businesses that have outgrown their previous database solutions, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 blends functionality, price, and value to deliver the easiest, most affordable database solution available today. The system supports up to two CPUs, two gigabytes of memory, Management Studio, import/export, limited replication and publishing, backup log shipping, and an unlimited database size.

“The real benefit here is that our small business customers now have a robust database solution built to meet the needs of both their business and budget,” concluded Mr. Fleitman. “By offering Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Workgroup Edition with month-to-month agreements, The Planet has essentially taken cost and commitment out of the equation for this customer set.”

The Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Workgroup Edition is currently in auto-provisioning at The Planet and the solution is now available to customers on-demand. Customers who currently have a server with The Planet can add the database solution, through OrbitSM, The Planet’s proprietary customer portal, for $69 per month.
