Default Hitachi Microcode upgrade

I have recently joined in this company as a junior system administrator and they use EMC and Hitachi as storage. They are doing microcode upgrade next week and I need to involve on that. What are things need to be done during microcode upgrade? If there is a doc or url, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

hitachi and seagate are the only two companies that make a 500GB 7200RPM drive. I would not mind trying a WD but they only goto 320.
