Flywheel UPS and surge supression for recording studios

Hi,

Please excuse the newb question here. My industry (audio/recording) is grossly under-informed and under-equiped when it comes to power (regulation, surge suppression, lightning protection, etc.). We routinely subject hundreds of thousands of dollars of gear, and tens of thousands of dollars of recorded material (on hard drives) to the public grid, with no more than some cheapo surge protectors in line for protection, and the occasional cheap little UPS sitting by the computer.

I'm wondering if there are any flywheel UPS solutions out there that scale down enough to be practical for a recording studio. In terms of surge and lightning protection, that kind of electrical->kinetic->electrical conversion seems pretty rock solid.

The challenge that is a bit unique to my industry, is that not only do we need safe, reliable power to our computers, but we also need stable, clean, pure-sine power to our audio gear.

Any advice you guys could offer would be very appreciated.

Hi, and welcome to the forums. Can you estimate the total electrical load of your computers and audio gear? Is the load growing, shrinking or staying about the same? Do you know how many branch circuits or panels are involved?
