Default Internap Enhances Its Award-Winning Flow Control Platform Product Line

Increased Visibility and Control to Improve Application Performance Over IP Networks

LAS VEGAS — May 3, 2005 — Today at NetWorld+Interop 2005, Internap Network Services Corporation (AMEX: IIP), the leading provider of performance-based routing services over the Internet, announces additional features to enhance its Flow Control Platform™ (FCP) product line that extend the visibility and control capabilities of the award-winning network optimization platform to organizations of all sizes, including small businesses, enterprises and service providers. The new additions include the FCP 5200, which scales to handle over 6 Gbps of traffic for multi-homed organizations with large-scale traffic needs, and the FlowView™ Platform, FVP 120, a simple, yet comprehensive network performance reporting tool that gives organizations the visibility they need to understand end-to-end IP network traffic performance, enforce connectivity Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and report on network performance to all levels of the organization.

"The average IP network typically runs at least 30 percent below its optimal level," said Dave Abrahamson, chief marketing officer and vice president of sales for Internap. "But since organizations don't have the tools to provide visibility into the performance of IP networks, this degradation often gets buried in the day-to-day administrative concerns. That's why the FCP delivers such a powerful advantage. It measures actual end-to-end traffic performance for latency, packet loss, route stability and congestion, then automatically reroutes traffic to provide performance levels for critical applications as necessary." Abrahamson adds, "The FCP 5200 extends this capability to large-scale networks, while the FVP 120 delivers the visibility organizations need to measure their networks and make intelligent management decisions."

FCP 5200: Visibility and Control
The FCP 5200 is designed for customers with substantial or rapidly growing traffic management requirements. It comes standard with 1Gbps of optimization capability and scales to over 6 Gbps of traffic handling capacity. The FCP 5200 delivers all of the benefits of previous FCP models including specific application routing, detailed reporting and intelligent load balancing.

"The FCP 5200 gives us visibility and control over our network traffic that we didn't think was possible. It provides real-time traffic reporting that allows us to troubleshoot network issues and rapidly isolate problems, while dramatically improving network performance. Our latency in the US is down by over 80 percent; international is down an average of 100 ms," said Dave Kochbeck, director of operations at Friendster, Inc., an online community that connects people through networks of friends. "In addition to the performance improvement, we've saved over $30,000 in bandwidth charges since we installed the box six weeks ago. With results like that, the FCP will have paid for itself in just a few months."

FVP 120: Reporting with Confidence
The FVP 120 is a simple, yet comprehensive network performance reporting tool that is cost justifiable for even the smallest IP networks. The software solution uses proprietary monitoring technologies to continuously measure actual traffic performance to all destination networks. This approach allows the customer to analyze traffic patterns for customers, suppliers and employees for both single and multi-homed networks.

"Before we installed FVP, our visibility into bandwidth utilization and network performance was minimal," said Steve West, chief executive officer of e-Sellerate, Inc., a leading software commerce provider. "Those limitations prevented us from managing issues before they reached a crisis point. Now, we have an affordable tool that enables proactive and informed decisions."

Based on FCP technology, the FVP provides detailed network data, both real-time and historic, to enable the network manager to isolate and troubleshoot network performance issues based on source, destination and application type. Additional reporting capabilities provide the ability to perform bill-back by department or application owner as well as actively measure SLAs and better manage contractual arrangements with Internet Service Providers (ISPs). If problems are caused by issues outside of the network, the FVP provides extensive reporting capabilities to identify the problem.

About the Flow Control Platform
The FCP solution is a network appliance deployed at the enterprise or service provider network edge. By intelligently routing traffic across multiple-ISP links to conform to customer performance and cost policies, the FCP solution enables customers to intelligently load balance and optimize their networks, typically reducing bandwidth costs by 20 to 50 percent, and lowering latency by an average of 35 percent while ensuring risk diversity in the event of a carrier outage or brownout.

The FCP's measurement capability gives customers better performance, fewer network incidents, sophisticated load balancing and easier troubleshooting, which enables successful deployment of "one-to-many" applications such as e-commerce, CRM, hosting, trading/clearing and all real-time traffic such as VoIP, video and collaboration. The FCP solution allows customers to maximize the potential of their productivity and revenue impacting IT investments.

The FCP product family includes solutions for traffic flows of any size, from the largest content provider sites and enterprise networks to remote branch offices and small-to-medium sized. Both the FCP 5200 and FVP 120 are available and being shipped to customers today.
