Datacenter Building info

I am just curious what are the basic and important things we need to consider when we design for datacenter. I am not going to builld a datacenter, just for the curioucity.

what exactly do all of ya'll mean when you say "fiber" is that the same thing as getting a T1/T3 line set up at your DC? I'm the newbie who is just tryingn to learn as much as possible.

Hi,

Fiber is a Optical Carrier which is physical line. You can transfer datas on following speed OC-3, OC-12,etc...


OC3 Connection - 155 mbps connection

OC12 Connection - 620 mbps connection


It all depends on rate of data transfer.

I was thinking of just starting out with 2 T1 lines for 1-2 servers. Just to get started.

Could anyone give me some infos related to the breakdown of a data center build cost. For example which part (%) of the overall budget for the construction of a new DC is going to the land, the building, the electrical, the mechanical, the IT,....
