VSS or Volume Shadow copy Service can actually be very helpful at times. It seems to me that it actually works like the greatly known “Recycle Bin”, with the ability to recover network files. Also the most interesting thing about this is that it checks only for the changes and does not make a complete image. This feature has been seen in other backup applications like Time Machine on the OS X.

True, but for your average home user the best thing you can do is shut this service off. Your never going to use it and its taking up memory and resources your PC could be using otherwise.
