Default

Dlink is reliable and cheap - does zero L3 but only single CPU.
Force10 and offers dual PSUs and cheap for L3.

Default Small Switch

Cisco Meraki switch (8 ports or more) can be good choice. These are Gig port switches with Dual uplinks.

Best part it those are cloud managed and can provide monitoring and other features remotely.
