Hazus-MH is a nationally applicable software program and standardized methodology for estimating potential losses from earthquake, flood, and hurricane
hazards. The Federal Emergency Management Agency developed Hazus-MH in partnership with the National Institute of Building Sciences. Loss estimates developed with Hazus-MH are based on current scientific and engineering knowledge about the effects of earthquake, flood, and hurricane hazards. These loss estimates can support the risk assessment component of a community’s planning effort (FEMA 2004).
