Hi,

if i want to use centos to install software raid,
i need a server board with alot sata port,
but it seems general board has only 6 sata port,
if i want to install more than 10 hds,
it seems the only way i can do is use raid card ? or any better method ?

Hi HostAddonLtd,

Very good question, but if you want to add 10 drives to your RAID group, I would definitely mange through RAID controller. I don't think software RAID will handle 10 Drives efficiency.

Indeed, a RAID controller can be used in such a case. However, you need to make sure that that raid controller card you are using is designed for the type of hard drives you are going to use in your server. A raid controller card basically designed for IDE hard disks won't take SSCI hard drives.
