Yeah that's a wide open question. Different suppliers/vendors will deal with only certain types of equipment. For cabling needs you generally seek out a reseller because the manufacturers don't sell direct. The one I've been dealing with the past few years is called Accu-Tech. Another one I know people use is Custom Cable. Keith has one he likes though I forget the name.

For your infrastructure needs such as HVAC and power plant systems those are completely differerent companies. After you decide on whether if you want to go with MGE, Liebert or whomever as manufacturers you find out who are registered dealers for those lines.

Default Vendor selection...

Well, with most vendors, we work directly. Thats because we buy several thousand racks per year. When it comes to network gear etc. i usually have our distributor setup meetings with vendors and then go through a eval process.
Our distributor is great in taking a lot of burdens of our shoulders. It's

B2B Computer Products, LLC
313 South Rohlwing Road
Addison, IL 60101

The best guy there is:
Taylor Grove
B2B Computer Products
Senior Account Manager

email: TGrove@b2bcomp.com

Tell him, the german said hi and to treat you well...

For generators etc, you can talk directly to manufacturers. Sometimes the lead times can be a killer.
Then Brokers can be a big help.
As a example:

It seems to me that your looking for high ends kinds of equipment for your date center, which I am sure you cannot find in walk-in vendor. You should find vendor that deals in corporate and high equipment. Or you can search different manufacturers site, and know from them who are their authorized dealer or distributor for the equipment your looking.

Cool

Hi,

After the research about what do you want to buy, i mean the configuration of equipments ends, the search of those equipment starts.
One must check with more than thee resellers instead of going to one and buying.

Ben Thomas

You should be able to find both new and used equipment here .... searchable for multiple providers and also location specific (what/who is near you).
