Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for the configuration, implementation, support and maintenance of various technologies and resources managed by the Information Technology department. Prior work experience with open source application administration and Linux operating systems is required.
Responsibilities Include:
Assist in the planning, documentation and implementation of various systems, including workstations, servers, software applications and networking equipment
Maintain and monitor procedures for storage and backup systems
Assist in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources
Contribute to and maintain technical documentation
Make recommendations for new equipment and services to purchase and work with various vendors for procurement
Clearly and regularly communicate progress on assigned tasks via project task tracker
Assist in providing Linux, Windows and Mac OS X desktop support to staff
Function successfully in both team and independent work environments
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years experience performing Linux server administration; experience must include
- web, email and networking services administration
- software RAID administration
- iptables configuration and management
- troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware compatibility and failure issues
Degree or dimploma in Computer/Information Technology or equivalent experience
Minimum 1 year product support or customer service experience
Competent understanding of IP network design and administration, including DMZ/NAT/VLAN configurations and Layer-2 switch management
Experience with Linux-based distributed authentication systems (Samba domain control, OpenLDAP, PAM, etc.)
Desired Skills:
Prior experience with one or more of the following applications a plus:
RT, Trac, Shorewall, Asterisk, Qmail, Exim, spamassassin, cacti, Vyatta, iCal, VMWare
Apache web server and MySQL database administration a big plus
Ability to write basic-intermediate sh and bash scripts
VoIP/SIP experience
