Backup is one of the important factor in I.T industry. There are many companies provide backup solution such as Veritas, etc. Feel free to provide your review about their services.

Thanks,

My organisation has been using Veritas Backup exec for a long time now. We are currently on version 12.

Although we used to have a few issuses with their earlier versions, I would rate version 12 4 out of 5. We have been using it efficiently without any problems

We use mainly windows operating systems. We are currently using it on Windows 2003 server.

We have a Linux server which we use for DNS but it is managed by someone else and I'm not sure how it is backed up.

Well we are also using veritas for around 2 years. I think backup is getting important not for only financial industries but now it is must everywhere.

100% correct, all the business should have backups. They choose the product as they needed according to their budget.

Well if your data is of any importance to your organisation, there is no way you can escape implementing a backup solution.

I think it would be really stupid for any organisation not to have a backing up mechanism for their data.

Backups are almost a way of life for businesses. Without having them, with no regards to being in IT sector or not, you're going to have a tough time when the core values fail.

Of course, keeping a back up server can be costly. Since my own site is rather small, i keep my back up on a rather in expensive external hard drive, which i update every couple of days.

Veritas are a good company, but they hit the bottle pretty quickly... we have an inconsistant backup database and they are less then helpful and advised we get consultants in, you think with the price of thier software - they would be a bit more helpful at times

The problem Cymru is with all the different setups at each location, sometimes its best to bring in a rep and let him see how things are at the actual site. Call the rep, get him in there, get the job done and get back to playing WoW.
