Default backup on SAN disk?

Guys,

Do you normally keep backup on SAN disk or TAPE drive?

It really depends on your archiving and retention requirements.

For anything less than three months, we backup to our onsite SAN, and do weekly offsite backups.

Anything greater (some data has 7 year retention requirements here in the UK), there’s no efficient way to have this as online storage in a cost effective manner at the moment - so tapes are the way for this.
