Question DRAC and PDU w/IP Access

If you have a DRAC do you really need a PDU with IP access?

From what I can tell even if a system locks up, the DRAC runs independent and the system can be remotely restarted. I am thinking about just getting some standard APC PDUs instead of APC PDUs with remote management. Anyone have any feedback on this?

Thank you!

We have HP servers and we use ILO. If you have drag, you don't need PDU. You can manage everything via drag.

it all depends on what you are using the PDU for.

All of our HP units have iLO, but I am slowly installing networked power strips so I can monitor my rack power loads, monitor temperature on the intake side, and trending. I do not admin the servers.

For the cost of managed PDU's now, you might as well install them in every cab. That’s the approach we've taken here - you never know if you're going to inherit a server that doesn't have DRAC, ILO, RSA etc..etc..
