Carpathia Hosting Inc., is seeking reliable, self driven, technology focused applicants to join our data center technician team in Ashburn, VA.
Looking for Mid-shift technicians, and overnight technicians.
Job description:
•Maintain team queue and support in ticket and support system.
•Monitor all DC resources (power, cooling, and space)
•Deploy, setup and maintain computer hardware (Ram and Hard Disk Upgrades)
•Perform equipment installations, configurations and upgrades
•Physically install servers and equipment
•Organize and neatly cable installed equipment
•Support end customer from within data center
•Work with other Carpathia Hosting locations to ensure quality and compliance
•Perform other tasks as assigned including escorting vendors to the secure site.
Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications:
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Outstanding customer service skills
•Above average troubleshooting and diagnostic skills on a variety of hardware
•Works well in a fast paced team oriented environment and able to grasp new technical information quickly
•Ability to work independently with little supervision
•Strong understanding of networking
•General knowledge of Windows, and Unix/Linux operating systems
•3-5 years of Technical Experience
•Excellent technical communication skills
•High level of proficiency in English: Spoken and Written
•Ability to lift up to 50+lbs
•Relevant experience working in a customer facing 24 x 7 production data center environment.
Desired Skills:
•Setup and Administration of Windows (2003, 2008), Linux (CentOS, RHEL, Fedora) and Solaris Operating Systems
•Apache, IIS, System Updates and Security in Standalone, Clustered and Domain
•Controlled Environments, Kickstart, Scripting etc.
•High-Availability Storage Technologies – SAN, NAS, DAS and their various implementations.
•Strong cable (ca5e, Cat 6, fiber) creation and installation abilities
