Default Getting away from StroNext

We have a client that wants to Plan and implement a transition from the existing StorNext storage environment to a more robust solution which meets current requirements.

Has anyone moved from a StorNext solution to something more robust and if so what process and methodologies did they use to ensure success

Without knowing the exact specifications of the "more robust environment", it is not possible to give a specific answer. Generally speaking:

1. The new host should be able to handle the migration. Not sure whether they will do it for free. After all we are most likely to be talking about Petabytes of data in this case.

2. Stornext has an Archive Conversion Utility which is used to help in migrating data to Stornext. Not sure if it can be used to migrate data away from Stornext.

3. In any case, there must be an experienced systems administrator on hand to organize and supervise the migration. Virtual data being the way it is, just the loss of one critical byte along the way could very well corrupt the entire database.

Hope this is useful.
