DDoS attack on Merchant Sites

I recently noticed that Merchant Sites are suffering DDoS attack comapre to other sites. Is any special reson behind it?. Last week worlday had problem and end of last month Authorize.Net.

I also heard 2co.com was under attack also, don't really know what is behind it, I wonder if its from the same group.

Prolly something like what foonet did (I think a thread on this posted on whc) where a competitor DDoS attacked a company to try and stop their competition.

Can you please provide the link. I am also intrested on seeing this.

In a lot of cases these are russian gangs that are trying to extort money. Many of these ddos attacks are pre-empted by threatening emails and a couple of phone calls - then the attacks start.

yes, I have seen that too. Also I have received fake mails from 2checkout.com as well.

We have to be very careful nowdays.
